  • Our servers are located in the European Union. You can ask us at any time to see, correct, export or delete your data.
WHO WE ARE

1. WHO WE ARE

LexiYar is operated by Fabsolutions.

Contact: [email protected]

WHO THIS POLICY COVERS

2. WHO THIS POLICY COVERS

  • Teachers: English teachers who use LexiYar to create and deliver personalised lessons.
  • Students: learners invited by a teacher, including during the placement evaluation before they create an account.
  • Visitors: anyone browsing our website.
WHAT DATA WE COLLECT

3. WHAT DATA WE COLLECT

From teachers:

  • Name, email address and password (stored only in encrypted, hashed form), or your Google profile details (name, email, profile picture) if you sign in with Google
  • Your teacher code, settings and preferences
  • Content you create or edit: lessons, homework, feedback and messages to students
  • Billing details for paid plans. Card payments are handled by our payment provider, and we never see or store full card numbers.

From students:

  • During the placement evaluation (before sign-up): your name, your evaluation answers, including any voice recordings you choose to make, and the resulting level assessment. These are linked to an identifier stored in your browser.
  • At sign-up: email address and password (hashed), or your Google profile details
  • English level (CEFR), skill results, interests and learning goals
  • Homework answers, practice activity, saved words, and messages with your teacher
  • Feedback and lessons generated for you

Collected automatically from everyone:

  • Device and browser type, IP address, approximate location (country or city level), and pages visited
  • How you use the site (clicks, scrolling, session recordings), collected through analytics tools; see Section 12
  • A device identifier stored in your browser, used to keep your evaluation progress before you sign up
VOICE RECORDINGS

4. VOICE RECORDINGS

During the placement evaluation, students can answer questions by voice. The recording is sent to a third-party AI provider, which converts it to text so your English can be assessed.

  • Recording happens only after you press the microphone button and your browser asks for permission.
  • We don't keep the audio after it has been transcribed. Any temporary copies created while processing the audio are deleted within 7 days. The text transcript is kept as part of your evaluation results.
  • Voice recordings are not used to identify you, and they are not processed as biometric data.
HOW WE USE AI

5. HOW WE USE AI

LexiYar uses third-party AI providers to:

  • assess students' English level from evaluation answers
  • transcribe voice answers
  • generate personalised lessons, homework and feedback
  • suggest content based on a student's interests

What this means for you:

  • We send AI providers only the data each task needs, such as a student's level, interests and answers. We don't send passwords or payment details.
  • Our AI providers are contractually not allowed to use your data to train their models.
  • AI-generated content can contain mistakes. Teachers review the content before it is delivered to students.
  • AI makes no decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects. Teachers decide how students are taught.
WHY WE USE YOUR DATA, AND OUR LEGAL BASIS

6. WHY WE USE YOUR DATA, AND OUR LEGAL BASIS

  • Creating and running your account: performing our contract with you
  • Assessing students and generating lessons, homework and feedback: performing our contract with you
  • Processing voice recordings: your consent (and a parent's or guardian's permission for users under 16)
  • Sending service emails (password resets, notifications): performing our contract with you
  • Keeping LexiYar secure and preventing abuse: our legitimate interests
  • Understanding how people use LexiYar so we can improve it: your consent (analytics cookies)
  • Billing and accounting: performing our contract; legal obligations
  • Responding to legal requests: legal obligations

Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Withdrawing doesn't affect processing that has already taken place.

CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

7. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Users under 16 may use LexiYar only with permission from a parent or guardian.

We collect no more data from children than the service needs, and we never use children's data for advertising.

Parents and guardians can contact us at [email protected] to review or delete their child's data, or to withdraw permission. If we learn that a user under 16 is using LexiYar without permission from a parent or guardian, we will delete their account and data.

WHO WE SHARE DATA WITH

8. WHO WE SHARE DATA WITH

We don't sell or rent your personal data. We share it only with:

  • Your teacher or students. Teachers can see the data of students linked to them. Students can see the content and feedback their teacher sends.
  • Service providers working on our behalf, under contracts that protect your data:
  • hosting and database providers (servers in the European Union)
  • third-party AI providers (see Section 5)
  • workflow automation tools that connect our AI features
  • Google, if you sign in with Google
  • email delivery providers
  • analytics providers (Microsoft Clarity)
  • payment providers, for paid plans
  • Authorities, when the law requires it, or when sharing is needed to protect someone's safety or our legal rights.
  • A buyer or successor, if LexiYar is merged with or sold to another company. We would notify you first.

A full list of our service providers is available on request.

INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

9. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

Our main servers are located in the European Union. Some service providers, including AI and analytics providers, may process data in other countries, such as the United States. When this happens, we use appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, and providers that commit to equivalent protection.

HOW LONG WE KEEP DATA

10. HOW LONG WE KEEP DATA

  • Account data: while your account is active. It is deleted within 30 days after you delete your account.
  • Evaluation data from students who don't create an account: deleted automatically after 30 days.
  • Voice recordings: not kept after transcription (see Section 4).
  • Backups: deleted data is removed from backups within 30 days.
  • Billing records: kept as long as tax and accounting laws require.
SECURITY

11. SECURITY

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data:

  • encrypted connections (HTTPS)
  • hashed passwords
  • access restricted to the people who need it
  • secure hosting in the European Union

No system is perfectly secure. If a data breach affects you, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

COOKIES AND ANALYTICS

12. COOKIES AND ANALYTICS

  • Essential cookies keep you signed in and keep the site secure. These are always on.
  • Analytics: we use Microsoft Clarity to understand how people use LexiYar, through session recordings and heatmaps. Clarity masks text you type in forms. Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent first, and you can change your choice at any time.
YOUR RIGHTS

13. YOUR RIGHTS

Depending on where you live (for example under the EU GDPR, the UAE or Saudi data protection laws, or US law), you have the right to:

  • access a copy of your data
  • correct inaccurate data
  • delete your data
  • export your data in a portable format
  • object to or restrict certain processing
  • withdraw your consent at any time

To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. We respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

14. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this policy as LexiYar changes. If we make important changes, we will let you know by email or in the app before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when the policy last changed.
